Busy few weeks

As predicted leading up to Christmas Print Hut are seeing a rise in general activity. Frank Golden comments; 'During November and December we expect to see sales up by 17% or there abouts with lots of promotional A5 flyers requiring artworking for example and the usual barrage of Christmas cards. However we have definitely noticed an increase in start up businesses comming to us for brand identities and the basic business forms, which I hope is the sign of an economy on the turn. What these guys want is fast action and an identity that is both modern, repeatable and fresh. I like to think we deliver on all these requirements time after time.'

Printed item of the week 20.11.09

Ok this week I have picked out a right little gem for you all. A litho printed holiday company's brochure, printed in four colour process throughout. Print Hut used an unusually heavy paper stock for this project to reiterate the quality of the business.
The brochure contained 24 pages of content with a final print run of 40,000 units. Finishing was saddle stitching with two wires through the spine. The final size format was agreed on a 170mm x 170mm format. I always think a square format portrays quality and encourages readership. Due to the nature of the paper used, Print Hut had to use a litho printing press which had the capacity to UV dry the sheets, otherwise these that would haver remained damp for several days, which the schedule could not afford. Lead times were 5 working days from client sign off of proofs that were digital studio proofs run out at high resolution. All target delivery dates were agreed before production and met, so well done all!!

Year on Year Progress Report

Print Hut announced last week that sales to year end 2010 were up by 25% compared to the same stage last year. Much or this growth has been attributed to the current economic conditions and the discerning print buyer. Frank Golden, Print Hut's printhuteer#1 comments; 'Investment during the second quarter of last year in design and artwork resouces has without doubt paid dividends, allowing more focus at the front end of the business on sales and marketing. It is apparent from these figures that it would seem the concept of Ultra Wholesale Printing is here to stay and one which the small business owner both likes and crucially understands. The message is sinking in that we can not only buy print better than they possibly can, but can also also turn the operation into a profitable business venture with fantastic service and delivery.'

Frank continues; 'Print Hut are hoping for a similar return in 2010  when the results of their reseller programme  'we are printhuteers aswell' will be clearly visable on the balance sheets'

Printed Item of the week 13th November 2009

Project: Promtional Christmas

Client: The Bridgehouse Bar and Restaurant
Print Hut Project Team Manager: Neil Parrish

This week have picked out some Chrimbo promotional print for a restaurant in St. Neots. This commission consisted of Dl 4pp leaflet digitally printed onto a 200 gsm silk board. Also Print Hut produced a series of A3 posters also promoting the forthcomming festive season. What I particularly like about this order is that the studio went on site and took bespoke photos of the venue and then cleverly added snow and other wintry themes to enhance the cover shot. Lead times were 5 working days

Graphic Design Brief explained

What is a Design Brief?

A design brief is a clear written explanation given by the client to a graphic designer at the outset of a design project. The main purpose is to get everyone started with a common understanding of what is to be accomplished.
It must give clear precise direction and serve as a benchmark against which to test concepts and execution as you move through each stage of a project. As a client you are spelling out your expectations. A well prepared brief is a critical starting point of the design process. A well detailed design brief will also help your designer provide accurate design and production costs for your approval first so you can plan and manage your budget effectively.
Top tips for putting together your design brief
About your business: Provide as much background information about you and your business to your graphic designer. They will need to understand as much as possible about your industry and behaviour patterns of your competitors. These are the main background points to consider telling your designer:

• Your Company Profile
• Your Competition
• Your Target Audience
• Your Existing Literature Samples

About your project: This is where all the detail comes in with regards to what you want your project to achieve, how much you have to spend and when you need it delivered:
• Your Aims and Objectives
• Your Budget
• Your Deadlines and Time Schedules

Project: Destination Growth Exhibition Marketing Materials
Client: The Assessment Network
Print Hut Project Team Manager: Neil Parrish

This week we have picked out an oversize A4 folder with 3mm capacity and 5 A4 leaflets that were printed in 4 colour process both sides.
The client required 500 sets printed, made up with glue flaps and collated with the leaflets. Lead times were in the region of 5 working days with remote PDF proofing for final sign off. To accompany the campaign, Print Hut were asked to provide a series of large format posters printed in full colour one side only. These were eventually lacquered to give a high gloss effect.

Promotional Print from Mugs to Chocolates

There is plenty of promotional print for everyone! Thats the message thats comming out of Print Hut, the Uk's only Ultra Wholesale Printing Company, in November. The Business that was set up a little under 2 years ago by Frank Golden, has now secured a supply chain offering businesses the opportunity to purchase all their promotional printing needs along side their usual business printing requirements. ' We can now print your brand and corporate identity onto a wealth of products ranging from pens to party poppers and diaries to dvd players.' comments Frank Golden. ' It was just a natural progressive and a case in hand of upselling to the customers. For the past 12 months I have forgotton how many times I have heard the conversation in the office ending 'no I am sorry we do not offer promotional printing'. I always listen to the customers and clearly they were wanting a one stop for all their needs.'
Print Hut now offer 'unique catalogues' that can also be emailed over to the customer within the hour, which means you dont have to browse through a load of gear that simply doesn't interest you. If it's T shirts you want then its a T shirt catalogue you get!!!
