Training Session 13.09.09
Good turnout this week with around a dozen kids reporting for duty for St. Neots under 9's plus a full training team present. With the return of Jim, a good session was in store for all with maybe a few tears as the ‘knocks n bumps’ would begin to mount. Lots of passing training at the start of the session was an early indication that the boys were beginning to gel again after the summer break, plus some mauling drills showing that maybe they were now ready and ‘up’ for a more physical game. It would seem that a good shape was also appearing today with a fine looking set of forwards, backs and wingers moving well and holding their positions. A few of the kids were on the receiving end of some good tackles and strong solo runs both through the centre and on the wings. Needless to say our first aider, Stewart was on hand with his magic spray on more than one occasion today.
To end the session the St. Neots under 9's faced St. Neots under 10's and delivered a magnificent effort under tough and obviously heavier opposition. The St. Neots under 9's forwards held their own at both ends of the field in the game. Tackling began a little shy to start with from St. Neots under 9's but very soon our backs learnt the harsh lesson that the buck stops with them and the forwards beginning to believe in themselves as opposed to worrying about the opposition. Very soon the team began to make the tackling count, stopping on several occasions some fine individual running from the St. Neots under 10's. Overall some great play and lots of physical confidence from St. Neots under 9’s. Well done all!
